Born in Granada Hills, California, and raised by parents with a love of boating, travel, and adventure, these early experiences influenced Bill’s life by creating a similar respect, and admiration to the water world around us. These experiences solidified his love for boats, fishing, and the fish he pursued.
Attending Humboldt State University in Northern California, completing a Bachelors of Science Degree in Fisheries Biology, Bill spent the next 16 years as a federal fisheries biologist. Four with the US Forest Service in California, Colorado, Alaska, and Oregon, then the next twelve years the Inter American Tropical Tuna Commission at Scripps Institute of Oceanography involved in the management of the tuna, billfish, sharks, and dolphin populations of the Eastern Tropical Pacific.
A passion for marine underwater photography led Bill into a photo journalism career doing assignments for the most prominent sport fishing publications in the world. This lifestyle progressed into TV production and to date he has produced and hosted 6 different fishing / travel series which have won 9 Telly Awards, his favorite being IGFA Anglers Digest. All told, these productions took Bill to some of the world’s most famous fishing locations, to fish with the world’s finest skippers, and crews; Venezuela, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Panama, Jamaica, Bahamas, Canary Islands, Azores Islands, Cape Verde Islands, Mozambique, South Africa, Spain, Morocco, North Carolina, Cape Cod, Hawaii, Midway Island, Australia, Alaska, New Zealand, and Mexico to name a few. All these wonderful experiences gave fresh insight in the way these fish are pursued, coupled with the boat designs needed to pursue them.
Bill still prioritizes his fisheries conservation efforts as a IGFA Representative in California, an active Board member for Wild Oceans and CCA.
